Respite & Short-Term Care

Sometimes care is needed for a season, not forever — a caregiver who needs rest, a recovery after the hospital, or a trial stay before a bigger decision. Our 10-bed home offers full memory care, by the week or the month.

Short-Term Care, Full-Time Standards

Respite care is short-term residential care — a planned stay that can last a few days, a few weeks, or a couple of months. At Encompass, a respite resident receives the very same care, the same all-inclusive home life, and the same nurse-practitioner oversight as a long-term resident. The only difference is the length of stay.

Three Reasons Families Call Us

Caregiver Relief

Family caregivers need rest, travel, surgery recovery, or simply a break before burnout sets in. A respite stay means your loved one is genuinely cared for — not just “watched” — while you step away.

Post-Hospital Recovery

After a hospital or rehab stay, going straight home isn't always safe. A short stay with 24/7 awake care and medication management bridges the gap during recovery.

A Trial Stay

Not ready to commit to a permanent move? A trial stay lets your loved one experience the home — and lets you see the care firsthand — before making a longer-term decision.

A Short Stay in a 10-Bed Home

In a small home, a short-term resident isn't a number passing through — they're folded into the same family-style daily life as everyone else.

We start with a quick care conversation to understand needs and medications, then welcome your loved one into the home with a full care plan from day one. Because we're nurse-practitioner-owned with 24/7 awake staff, even a brief stay gets the same clinical attention as long-term care — which matters most after a hospital stay or for someone with dementia.

  • Subject to availability — our 10 beds fill up, so call early
  • Full care plan and on-site medication management from day one
  • A natural path to long-term care if it becomes the right choice

Our Pricing Approach

Respite stays are billed for the period your loved one is with us, at a short-term rate that reflects the same all-inclusive care our long-term residents receive — care, meals and snacks, incontinence supplies, medication management, and household essentials. As always, the only things not covered are services that require a third-party vendor. Because availability and length of stay vary, we'll give you a clear quote when you call.

Respite Care FAQ

What is respite care?

Respite care is short-term residential care — a planned stay that can last from a few days to a couple of months. It gives family caregivers a break, supports recovery after a hospital stay, or lets a family try out a home before committing long-term.

How short or long can a stay be?

Stays are flexible — by the week or by the month — depending on your needs and our availability. Call us and we'll work out the timeframe that fits.

Does a respite resident get the same care as a long-term resident?

Yes. Short-term residents receive the same all-inclusive care, the same nurse-practitioner oversight, the same meals, and the same family-style home life. The only difference is the length of stay.

Can respite care turn into a permanent stay?

Often it does. A trial or recovery stay is a natural way to experience the home, and many families decide to transition to long-term care once they see the difference — subject to availability.

How much does respite care cost?

Respite is billed for the period of the stay at an all-inclusive short-term rate. Because length of stay and availability vary, we'll give you a clear quote when you call. You can see how our pricing philosophy works on the cost page.

How far in advance should I book?

As early as you can. With only ten beds, respite availability is limited and can fill quickly — especially around holidays and travel seasons. Call (480) 584-4250 to check current openings.
